And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 Had We revealed it to a non-Arab 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest [alone,] 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 Only the erring people follow the poets. 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
