Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Woe to the liars 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
