The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
