In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
