When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
