The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 "My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do." 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
