Al-A 'araaf 14 of 24
The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said: put him and his brother off, and send unto the cities callers. 111 "That they bring up to you all well-versed sorcerers." 112 And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 Surely I shall have your hands and feet cut off upon alternate sides. Then I shall crucify you every one. 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 And what is it for which thou takest vengeance on us save that we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came unto us? Our Lord! pour out upon us perseverance and cause us to die as Muslims. 126
