The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no wage for it; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss. 181 Weigh with correct scales: 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 191
