He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
