The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 by the sky and how He built it 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
