The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
