Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning for people -- 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
