Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ BLESSED BE HE who holds the (reins of) Kingship in His hand, who has power over everything, 1 Who hath created life and death that He may try you which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving, 2 The One Who created the seven heavens atop each other; do you see any discrepancy in the creation of the Most Gracious? Therefore lift your gaze – do you see any cracks? 3 Then turn back the eye again and again; your look shall come back to you confused while it is fatigued. 4 And indeed We have beautified the lower heaven with lamps, and have made them weapons against the devils, and have kept prepared for them the punishment of the blazing fire. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord (Allah) is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination. 6 When they will be cast thereinto, they will hear thereof a braying even as it boileth up, 7 and wellnigh bursts asunder with rage. As often as a troop is cast into it, its keepers ask them, 'Came there no warner to you?'; 8 They say, 'Yes indeed, a warner came to us; but we cried lies, saying, "God has not sent down anything; you are only in great error. 9 And they will say, "If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze." 10 So they acknowledge their sins; but far removed (from mercy) are the dwellers in the flames. 11 Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward. 12 Whether you conceal what you say or reveal it, God knows best all that the hearts contain. 13 How could it be that He who has created [all] should not know [all]? Yea, He alone is unfathomable [in His wisdom,] aware! 14
