Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting; 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
