Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food save filth 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
