The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 purify your garments; 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 it will be a hard day 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
