The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
