Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
