۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
