A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 for, indeed, We had vouchsafed revelation unto Moses in order that they might find the right way. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
