In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). 1 And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof 2 and conveying [to all the world] a reminder: 3 surely, your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, and Lord of the easts. 5 We have indeed adorned the lowest heaven with stars as ornaments. 6 And have placed therein a guard against any satan froward. 7 They cannot listen to the speech of those on higher elevations and they are targeted from every side. 8 To make them flee, and for them is a never-ending punishment. 9 but if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge,] he is [henceforth] pursued by a piercing flame. 10 So ask them, are they stronger in constitution, or those whom We have created. We have created them of sticky clay. 11 But you wonder, while they mock, 12 and when they are reminded [of the truth,] they refuse to take it to heart; 13 and whenever they see some sign, they ridicule it, 14 And they say: this Qur'an is naught but magic manifest. 15 "What! When we have died and become dust and bones, will we be brought back to life again, 16 Or our fathers of yore? 17 Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)." 18 So that is just a single jolt, thereupon they will begin staring. 19 And they shall say: O woe to us! this is the day of requital. 20 'This is the Day of Decision, even that you cried lies to. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
