The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
