When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
