۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
