The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are united, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
