Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha. Mim. 1 By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Quran). 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 And Who hath treated the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you from ships and cattle things whereon ye ride. 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 AND YET, they attribute to Him offspring from among some of the beings created by Him! Verily, most obviously bereft of all gratitude is man! 15
