And recall what time the angels said: O Maryam! verily Allah chose thee and purified thee and chose thee above the women of the worlds. 42 Mary, pray devotedly to your Lord, prostrate yourself before Him and bow down with those who bow down before Him." 43 This is of the tidings of things hidden which We reveal unto thee and thou wast not with them when they cast their reeds as to which of them should take care of Maryam, nor wast thou with them when they disputed. 44 (And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah). 45 Who will speak to the people when in the cradle and when in the prime of life, and will be among the upright and doers of good." 46 "Lord," she said, "how can I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] replied, "Thus it is: God creates what He wills: when He wills a thing He need only say, "Be," and it is. 47 And He will teach him the Book, the Wisdom, the Torah, the Gospel, 48 And will make him a messenger unto the Children of Israel, (saying): Lo! I come unto you with a sign from your Lord. Lo! I fashion for you out of clay the likeness of a bird, and I breathe into it and it is a bird, by Allah's leave. I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I raise the dead, by Allah's leave. And I announce unto you what ye eat and what ye store up in your houses. Lo! herein verily is a portent for you, if ye are to be believers. 49 ‘And I come confirming the Taurat (Torah) – the Book before me – and to make lawful for you some of the things which were forbidden to you, and I have come to you with a sign from your Lord – therefore fear Allah and obey me.’ 50 Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the straight path." 51 ۞ But when Jesus became conscious of their disbelief, he cried: Who will be my helpers in the cause of Allah? The disciples said: We will be Allah's helpers. We believe in Allah, and bear thou witness that we have surrendered (unto Him). 52 Our Lord! we believe in that which Thou hast sent down, and, follow the apostle; write us up wherefore with the witnesses. 53 And they schemed but God also schemed and God is the Best of Schemers. 54
