The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
