He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
