Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or have you clear evidence? 156 Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful! 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 So surely you and what you worship, 161 You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 They used to say: 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 And see thou: they themselves shall presently see. 179 Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 182
