Thamud denied the warning 23 They said: 'Are we to follow a mortal who is one of us? Then indeed, we would surely be in error and insane. 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
