Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
