The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
