The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
