Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha Mim 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 Yet they make some of His creatures His offspring! Man is surely most ungrateful. 15
