Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Prayer at night leaves the strongest impression on one's soul and the words spoken are more consistent. 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 How then, if ye disbelieve, shall ye escape, on a Day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
