Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
