Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
