The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
