Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
