He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
