S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the renowned Qur'an, 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 We have heard nothing like this in the latest religion. This is only his own false invention. 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
