The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
