Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to humans, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the sinners. 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
