The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A written record, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
