The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I CALL THIS earth to witness -- 1 this land in which thou art free to dwell 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 and a tongue, and two lips, 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 Or feeding on a day of severe hunger 14 an orphaned relative 15 or to a destitute lying in dust; 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
