۞ We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship instead of God! Will you not, then, use your reason?" 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 AND UNTO Lot, too, We vouchsafed sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong,] and saved him from that community which was given to deeds of abomination. [We destroyed those people - for,] verily, they were people lost in evil, depraved 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
