The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
