The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
