Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by yonder city 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 And what have you understood, what the valley is! 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
